Luscious and Lemony Greek Turkey and Feta Burger
what you need:
- 3 lb Ground turkey
- 1 medium sweet onion, finely grated
- ¾ cup finely minced kalmata olives
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1tbsp dried Greek oregano
- Grated zest of 2 lemons
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 12 Whole wheat Hamburger Buns
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Yogurt sauce:
- 2 cups Greek Yogurt
- Grated zest of 2 lemons
- 1 cup crumbled Tre Stelle feta cheese
- 2 tsp dried dill
- Juice of 2 lemons
Toppings:
- Red onion
- Curly leaf lettuce
- Thinly sliced cucumbers
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high, 450–550°F
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, garlic, oregano, grated onion, olives and lemon zest. Season with salt & black pepper.
- Form into twelve patties.
- Grill burgers for 7-8 minutes per side for medium-well doneness. Burgers internal temperature should be 165F as per CFIA recommendations.
- Brush buns with melted butter and grill, turning often until golden.
- In a small bowl mix yogurt, Tre Stelle feta cheese, lemon juice, zest and dill.
- Top each of the burgers with yogurt and feta sauce.
- Assemble each burger with toppings of curly leaf lettuce, red onion and cucumber slices.
